Second-harmonic generation in the topological multifold semimetal RhSi

چکیده
Recent experiments in the topological Weyl semimetal TaAs have observed record-breaking second-harmonic generation, a non-linear optical response at $2\omega$ generated by an incoming light source $\omega$. However, whether generation is enhanced semimetals general challenging open question because their band structure entangles contributions arising from trivial bands and crossings. In this work, we circumvent problem studying RhSi, chiral with simple multifold fermions close to Fermi energy. We measure (SHG) wide frequency window, $\omega\in [0.27,1.5]$eV and, using first principle calculations, establish that, due linear dispersion, contribution of SHG subdominant as compared other regions Brillouin zone. Our calculations suggest that parts where dispersion relatively flat contribute significantly SHG. As whole, our results avenues enhance responses.

Second Harmonic Generation Imaging of a Magnetic Topological Insulator
A topological insulator (TI) is a type of quantum material that is insulating in the bulk but metallic on the surface. Due to the unique spin properties of the surface electrons, TIs have attracted much interest for their potential applications in spin-based electronics and quantum computers. Even more exotic effects occur when TIs are brought in contact with magnetic materials. This thesis rep...
متن کاملGalerkin Finite-Element Method for the Analysis of the Second Harmonic Generation in Wagon Wheel Fibers
The nonlinear effects of the second harmonic generation have been investigated for the propagation of light along the axis of fibers of wagon wheel cross sectional shape. Nodal finite element formulation is utilized to obtain discretized Helmholtz equations under appropriate boundary conditions. The hierarchical p-version nodal elements are used for meshing the cross section of wagon wheel fibe...
متن کاملStudy of the Transition to Instability in Second-Harmonic Generation with Scale Index Method
The emergence of second-harmonic generation (SHG) is a pivotal issue to the development of nano-optical devices and interfaces. Here, we perform a classical analysis of the SHG dynamics with the aim of determining critical values of the electric field. The signals of the SHG process are nonlinear, so it seems reasonable that chaos theory can be a suitable tool to analyze their dynamics. For thi...
متن کاملSecond-harmonic generation
The goal of this experiment in nonlinear optics is to study the conversion of a (very small) fraction of laser light from its original wavelength of 980 nm (i.e. invisible to the naked eye) to its second-harmonic at a wavelength of 490 nm. This conversion takes place by mild focussing of an intense laser beam in a nonlinear birefringent crystal of BBO (= β BaBO4). You will study the physical pr...
متن کاملInterferometric second harmonic generation microscopy.
We describe a novel second harmonic generation (SHG) microscope that employs heterodyne detection by interfering the epi directed SHG from a sample with SHG from a reference crystal. In addition, the microscope provides complementary reflectance information based on optical coherence microscopy (OCM). The instrument features dual balanced detection to minimize the effect of source fluctuations,...
